Owner did not care for that since he is living in the home. Wehen they saw my sign they called me and I had ro tell them about the scam that was happening. I had a friend all on a listing she saw on Craigslist to find out that this was not an actual rental after driving by and realizing it was listed by an Agency. I thought the article was talking about us. We received so many e-mails and phone calls. The seller was even contacted by people who wanted to rent this 365,000 house for 775.00 per month. One lady did fill out application but suspected a scam before sending the money. This is horrible and the sellers feel insecure about our efforts to keep them protected. Nice gentleman let me know about it on craigslist (along with 4 others) and he sent me "Nicholas Dunaway's" email and contact information. (The man who had my listing for rent) So I called him - yes it was out of the country - can't wait to see what that will cost me on my cell phone. So frustrating!!! Had this happen to me 2/21/12. Had another phone call 2/19 evening from another person who had gotten my name and number off the signs and called to rent it. First call was on 2/17 and two on 2/19. Scammers are using my sellers names and also making up fake email addresses with seller's full names. I have the email from scammers where I used another name and email to contact them. I emailed them back to see the house before I gave them all the information they asked me for. Haven't heard back today. The first caller to me went on Craigs list and reported it as a scam. I have notified craigslist several times and it does no good. I have had at least 8 people track me down after cluing that something wasn't quite right. If 8 people tracked me down I wonder how many may have sent $$. It isn't the exact scam noted about but close. I had the same problem last fall with another home.
