This course will include civil right laws as applied to commercial real estate, including history and foundation, ADA, FHA, and similar laws in Ohio and its political subdivision. Practical challenges in identifying potential violations of ADA, FHA, and similar laws will be discussed as well as best practices for risk management and liability control. Recent trends in application and enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act and similar laws throughout the country will be covered including real-life case examples.
This class is designed to satisfy the State of Ohio's Fair Housing & Civil Rights requirement and the new NAR Fair Housing requirement.

George Carr with Sikora Law is a seasoned and respected attorney with considerable trial experience and success in resolving matters prior to trial. He has tried real estate cases involving property appropriated through eminent domain, land use and zoning restrictions, building construction and design, and riparian (water) and shoreline rights. He handles disputes and risk management issues for real estate clients, including title matters, development and construction disputes, leases and evictions, brokerage and fair housing/civil rights/ADA issues, and Opportunity Zone advisory services. George is on the Education Committee of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ISCS), has published numerous articles, and spoken at many seminars concerning the latest real estate issues.
