2019 Legal Issues Update

This program will provide an update on recently enacted legislation impacting real estate licensees including the home inspector regulations and the duty to report suspected cases of elder abuse. There will also be a review of recently enacted Ohio Administrative Code provisions for real estate licensees, with emphasis on advertising by licensees. Lastly, a discussion on a variety of topics that if not handled properly could subject a licensees to legal or disciplinary action and best practices to reduce liability.

Join policy-makers and commercial real estate experts from Ohio and the District of Columbia as they delve into one of the hottest topics in real estate, Opportunity Zones. You will hear about how the program was created through the 2017 federal legislation, “The Tax Cut and Jobs Act” and what’s to come as federal regulations are ironed out over the next few weeks.

At the state level, Ohio has 320 Qualified Opportunity Zones. The audience will hear about those Opportunity Zones and another potential incentive to invest and develop in economically distressed communities through recently introduced Senate Bill 8 which passed the Ohio Senate and is strongly supported by the Ohio REALTORS. Don't miss this opportunity to come and listen to Ohio's legislative leaders as the Senate President, the Speaker of the House and Minority Leadership share with us the priorities of their respective caucus's. Additionally, they will touch on the Governor's proposed $150.4 billion dollar budget and other policy issues facing lawmakers this General Assembly.

Legislative Briefing / After they are finished speaking, don't forget to hang around for a brief review of Ohio REALTORS legislative talking points before heading over to the statehouse for our legislative reception. Curious by nature, Patrick likes to explore other ways of thinking, feeling, living and being, which ultimately allows him to serve his clients’ best interests.

Through his organization Real Estate Success Rocks, Patrick hosts an annual conference and a weekly podcast for agents. He is also the founder of Real Estate Vision (REV), an educational and networking group for top producing agents. Patrick is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars throughout the world. A consistent theme in his talks is the creation of practices that nurture both your soul and financial well-being.
