REALTORS® testify against tax hike -- Add your voice to the opposition
Ohio REALTORS® President-elect Chris Reese testified before the Ohio Senate Finance Committee this afternoon in opposition to a change in law that would significantly increase taxes on small business owners.
Her message was simple -- that the changes being considered in the budget bill will hurt real estate and, ultimately, Ohio's economy. In fact more than 2,000 Ohio REALTORS® have already sent their Ohio Senator a similar message since we launched our "Call for Action" earlier this week.
Originally proposed by the Ohio House of Representatives, the Senate is now considering a budget bill that includes a sharp tax increase on pass-through entities earning more than $100,000 of business income. This means all REALTORS® who are sole proprietors and generate more than $100,000 in business income will see their taxes go up -- a change that will impact thousands of Ohio REALTORS®.

During her testimony, Reese stressed that REALTORS® use this tax savings to purchase signs, marketing and advertising materials, hire staff, pay for gas and car maintenance, and other important job-creating, tax-generating activities. CLICK HERE to join her and tell your Ohio Senator that REALTORS® strongly oppose this change and is seeking a full reinstatement of the current tax language. (Be sure to REVIEW and SEND your message otherwise your action will not be complete.)
