Coaching Corner: What will change for you?
By Marilou Butcher Roth, Master Coach
Lately, I have had some conversations centering around the changes that some feel will occur as a result of this lovely, impactful virus -- the changes that will go on beyond the actual pandemic as we move back into “normal” life. You see, that’s the point, what will normal be for you?
In giving this thought a bit of my brain, I also realized that some things will just not be the same. For example, part of me so misses our super-sized holiday celebrations. And yet, there is part of me that feels like I got a free pass to not bust my butt on preparations for these cherished events. In moving forward, I suspect -- no actually, I know, that I will strive for a much simpler gathering. In saying that, I am not even sure what that would look like, however, I am quite certain it involves more involvement from others!
Another one is how I have been doing my workouts. Our regular trainer has been training both my husband and myself on FaceTime, and I would add, quite effectively and efficiently! Our conversations have been around how going back to the gym may happen occasionally, or perhaps not at all! And, my pilates class has been a zoom activity for almost a year. Quite frankly, I have found it to be preferable as I trot down my basement steps rather than drive 15-20 minutes to get there.
These are not my only examples, and, I am quite certain that you have some of your own. These are the activities or situations where you will find an improvement due to how we have had to contort to accommodate the effects of the virus. This week take a moment to reflect on what those changes might be for you.
