Coaching Corner: What does freedom mean to you?
By Marilou Butcher Roth, Master Coach
We are a few days away from July 4, our national day of freedom. Freedom -- what a wonderful, many layered word. What does the idea of freedom mean to you? Undoubtedly, you will have some initial responses to this question, and yet, if you give yourself a moment, perhaps you will uncover even more thoughts that are not readily apparent.
You might begin your individual quest by bringing to mind all of the places where you actually do experience freedom currently. It might be as simple as being able to get into your car and drive where you want to go. Sounds simple, but that is a form of freedom! It may be tempting to allow yourself to careen into the non-freedom lane, places where you are not experiencing what you desire.
Where would you like to be experiencing more freedom? Financially? Within your career? In your closest relationships? These questions invite an opportunity for some juicy journaling if you are up for it. Identify those areas of your life where things might shift to allow you to have more of the feeling true freedom brings.
Today, give yourself the gift that was given to us so many years ago and allow yourself to move freely into the direction that you choose -- because you can!
Happy Fourth of July!!
