Coaching Corner: Poor Me!

Okay, is anyone else in the midst of feeling sorry for themselves because the weather has brought us frigid temperatures?  Frequently, I speak of being a victim and honestly, that is not a place where I typically go…….except in the winter months when mother nature takes away our warmth!  I go right into victim, feeling the lack of freedom that warmer weather brings.

You might be thinking that I need to change my geographic location and move or at least partially move, to a warmer climate.  It sounds wonderful and yet, being where our children and grandchildren are is a much bigger priority for us, so for now, here we sit.

If any of you are having a similar experience, I can share what has helped me.  First, acknowledging what I am feeling needs to come first.  From there, getting curious about how I might feel better during these cold snaps is the next step.  We recently purchased one of those lights that use each morning as I do my morning items, and it has absolutely helped.  Finding actions that can support warmth and more ease in my body throughout the day is my priority.

During the colder time of the year, I enjoy making soups of all kinds.  Having the warmth of the soup, believe it or not, actually helps me feel both physically and mentally warmer.

You will have your own ways of finding that good feeling space for yourself, letting yourself be curious will definitely assist you in this endeavor.  And, holding onto the thought that each day, we are one day closer to spring!  Be warm!
