Coaching Corner: One...Ten...Done!
By Master Coach Marilou Butcher Roth
Each day you wake up with the best of intentions to make the day as positive as it can be (hopefully)! Then the day unfolds, and you look back and wonder what the heck happened. Part of the skillset of creating better days is to identify the actions that, if taken, would bring you to more ease and flow. You must be proactive and consistent with how you approach each day to have consistent results. This is true in all areas of your life.
Here’s your tool to assist you in this oh-so-important endeavor: create a list of "Ten Daily Habits" that you want to incorporate into your day. First, begin from a personal perspective. Perhaps you are one of those people who inconsistently makes their bed, and yet, when you do, you experience a wonderful feeling. Or maybe you know you need to drink more water, going with the general rule of thumb to divide your weight by half to determine the number of ounces of water your body needs, but you rarely make that goal. Why is that? There are countless items you personally may want to add to your "Ten Daily Habits" list. This is a very individual process, so you get to decide which items are in alignment with you.
Now you can also create a list for your business. What items do you need/want to accomplish on a daily basis? For this exercise, let’s consider daily as Monday through Friday. There will be some days when you have ten minutes and others when you have two hours. When you are following your Daily List, you will be training yourself into consistent action, regardless of the amount of time. If ten seems too much to take on at first, start with two. The point is to be consistent in your approach. These actions, both big and small, increase your confidence, ability to trust yourself, and make achieving goals… any goals you set… that much easier.
Have fun with this one, creating a list that supports you and what you want, veering away from what you think you “should” be doing. Rule #1 ~ no “shoulding” on yourself!!
