The Power of the Three-way Agreement

Sep 29, 2025

The three-way agreement is a unique partnership between your local, state and national association. This agreement helps create NAR's unique and highly effective structure that delivers value at every level.

The three-way agreement describes how the local, state and national associations use their collective voices and resources to help effectively support your business and advance the REALTOR® mission of preserving, protecting and advancing the right of real property for all.

When you join your local association, you automatically become a member of Ohio REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). This structure strengthens the REALTOR® organization by providing a framework for effective communication, delivery of goods and services, and the enforcement of the REALTORS® Code of Ethics.

The association structure also enhances your influence at the local, state, and national levels. Nationally, REALTORS® benefit from a unified advocacy platform for causes that contribute to the protection of private property rights and safeguards the interests of the industry. At the state level, Ohio REALTORS® actively champions real estate issues and legislation impacting Ohio. Your local association supports grassroots advocacy efforts that shape community policies.

The three-way agreement isn’t just a membership — it’s a powerful network working for you at every level. Make sure to stay engaged, use your benefits, and grow with the REALTOR® network. Learn more by watching the video below!
