Make an Impact Through a Donation to Ohio REALTORS® Charitable & Educational Foundation!
By Garry Moon, Director of Professional Development & Partnerships
Ohio REALTORS® Charitable & Education Foundation is a 501C-3 tax exempt organization organized exclusively for charitable purposes for scholarships and for property disaster relief in Ohio.
The foundation provides scholarship assistance to students pursuing a degree in real estate at four-year granting colleges and universities in Ohio. Additionally, the foundation provides for the receipt and distribution of funds that are directly related to property issues in the case of disaster relief in the state of Ohio.
Pay it forward! We invite you to contribute to these worthy causes and make an impact on the lives of fellow Ohioans.
How to contribute:
- Cash donations - click here to make a cash payment to Ohio REALTORS® Charitable & Educational Foundation. Beginning in 2026, those taking the standard (non-itemized) deduction can claim an additional "above-the-line" deduction for cash contributions. This is limited to $1,000 for single filers and $2,000 for married couples filing jointly and only applies to cash donations. Please be sure to note if your donation is to be applied towards scholarships or property-related disaster relief.
- Qualified charitable distributions - for supporters aged 70.5 or older, a QCD allows for a direct transfer of funds from a traditional or Roth IRA to a qualified nonprofit. The donation is excluded from your taxable income and can satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), providing a tax benefit whether you itemize or not.
- Appreciated assets - donating stocks, bonds, or other assets that have been held for more than a year is a highly effective tax strategy. You can deduct the fair market value of the assets while avoiding the capital gains tax you would have paid if you had sold them.
- Bequest and legacy gifts - legacy giving allows supporters to designate our foundation as a beneficiary in their will or living trust, allowing them to make a significant future commitment without impacting their current financial security.
Gifts to the Ohio REALTORS® Charitable & Educational Foundation qualify as charitable contributions, which entitle the donor to federal income, estate, and gift tax deductions. Any prospective donor is advised to consult a legal and/or tax counsel concerning their individual situation and the respective tax codes.
