Ohio REALTORS® Recognizes Fair Housing Month
April is Fair Housing Month, a reminder of our ongoing commitment to advancing equitable opportunities and expanding homeownership. While highlighted in April, this commitment extends throughout the entire year.
REALTORS® continue to lead the way in advancing fair housing, strengthening communities and ensuring fairness remains a standard in real estate. Discrimination distorts the housing market and limits access to the American dream of homeownership for qualified buyers.
The National Association of REALTORS® leads the industry in advancing fair housing through advocacy, education and action — helping ensure every qualified buyer has a fair opportunity to achieve homeownership.
Fair Housing is a professional standard upheld by REALTORS®. It is more than a requirement — it is reinforced through ongoing education and training. REALTORS® are required to complete Fair Housing and Anti-Bias Training upon becoming members, and every three years thereafter, aligning with the Code of Ethics training cycle.
Fair Housing Month is observed each April to commemorate the landmark 1968 Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in housing. These protections begin at the federal level and are further supported by state and local regulations.
