Coaching Corner: Fear of failure or fear of success?

Coaching Corner: Fear of failure or fear of success?

What I really want to look at is a fear of success, which is more illusive than a fear of failure. This pattern will typically show up when we find our lives are going great — that is why it is more difficult to identify. Another name for this is “upper limit.” Watch for your own patterns of this, which may appear as some sort of self-sabotage — getting sick is a favorite of many. We may be carrying an unconscious thought that we do not deserve to be this successful or this happy. Or, possibly, the rest of our family is struggling and we are shining both in our professional and personal life — this could be a showstopper for some. Whatever the situation, pay attention to when and how you put the brakes on for yourself. By noticing these patterns, they are easier to move yourself gently back to where you want to be!
