Coaching Corner: From wonder to wonderful!

Coaching Corner: From wonder to wonderful!

Oct 7, 2016

“Wonder is a powerful tool. We used wonder to create several multi-billion dollar businesses. Wondering assists you to push your limits, challenge your old beliefs, and discover the world around you in a whole new way.” -- Jeff Hoffman, an entrepreneur, innovator in the fields of Internet, e-commerce, and entertainment and worldwide motivational speaker.

There are times when situations present themselves, leading us straight down the worry path. What if? OMG! What do I do? We have all been there at some point or another to varying degrees. When we worry, however, the solution that we so fervently seek, seems to have packed up and gone on vacation! So, what can we do? The answer might surprise you but probably not, since you have already read the above quote. Yes -- the answer is wonder -- pure and authentic curiosity!

Let's look at an example -- you find that the current flow of your business feels overwhelming. Perhaps you feel your time is going in so many places you find it hard to keep up. First, stop and honor whatever your experience is -- you may feel an emotion, or a body sensation may make itself known. You may notice that your stomach feels fluttery or a heaviness in your chest might get your attention. No right -- no wrong -- just notice! From there think about what you want. I am going to say perhaps freedom might be a desire. Now, take a few deep breaths and ask from that pure unknowing place “hmm, how can I experience more freedom in my day?” Simple, right? Absolutely, unless you allow your brain to jump in with familiar resistance. The key is to ask from that place that truly doesn't know the answer. Open to possibilities!

And now, take it a step further. Use this same wonder to expand your life. “Hmm, how can I easily create a business doing what I love and making an abundance of money?" There are also no right or wrong questions. Think about what you want and then pose the question. Keep in mind that this takes some practice. Allowing yourself to play with questions on a daily basis will strengthen your abilities.

You may not get an immediate answer to your question, and that's OK. Part of this new openness is trusting. I have found curiosity to play out very powerfully in my own life and the lives of many of my clients.

So how about it? Aren't you just a little curious??
