Ohio REALTORS Housing Disaster Relief Fund

In May 2019, Ohio REALTORS launched a relief fund to assist the victims of the tornadoes that hit residents of Greene, Mercer and Montgomery counties on May 27, 2019. The Ohio REALTORS Housing Disaster Relief Fund provided up to $1,000 non-repayable grants to qualified applicants.

Through a grant from the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), along with donations from individual REALTORS and Local Associations/Boards across the state, the Ohio REALTORS Housing Disaster Relief Fund provided more than $530,000 in financial relief to qualified residents whose home or rental were damaged during the storms.

Qualified applicants received up to $1,000 in assistance for a home or rental residence that was damaged during the tornadoes.

Assistance was limited to housing relief only; other expenses including second mortgages, vehicle purchase, rental and/or mileage were ineligible for reimbursement under this program. NAR grant funds were restricted to residents of Greene, Mercer and Montgomery counties. However, Ohio REALTORS assistance was not tied directly to the NAR grant and was disbursed for expenses beyond direct mortgage/rental payments, such as insurance deductible, hotels, etc.

All grants were made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the fund’s Trustees/Administrators and was served on a first-come, first served basis.

DONATE NOW or send a check, payable to the “Ohio Housing Disaster Relief Fund” to Ohio REALTORS, 200 East Town Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
