I invite you to take a peak into the past several weeks, identifying actions (or non-actions) that were implemented. Which of those would you like to carry forward? Perhaps you have a new routine that you have been enjoying, or maybe it's just simplicity that has been present during this time. There are always nuggets from every situation...what are yours? And, how can they become part of your current life?

As we begin to gently re-enter, give some thought to your “hurry energy.” During the time when most were completely in the house, there was a good chance that things slowed down. If this was the case for you, consider how you might bring some of that slower paced energy into where you are now. Perhaps this may be one of the nuggets that have come from this time of COVID19. Perhaps...

This week we are going to be looking at re-entry into this new stage of this very interesting time. First and foremost, as we each move forward, it is important to identify how YOU want to take steps (or not). Each of our experiences have been individual and each of our experiences will continue to be individual--no matter what others are choosing. Own your re-entry and move forward with grace and ease!

One of the challenges that come with working at home is working at home with your significant other and/or children. There is no question this can be a tricky situation! Please identify some time just for yourself--even if you have to hang out in the bathroom for fifteen minutes or so. It's critical to make sure you are able to be with just you. And then, make sure you have some quality time with those others at home!

Today I have a challenge for you. As we are all experiencing some level of discomfort right now, I want to take a look at how a little discomfort can be of benefit. Today, take a minute to think of something you can do for yourself that is out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t have to be big, just have fun with this one.

My hope is that you are finding amusement throughout this time--we need to keep our sense of humor alive. So, I received this joke from a friend yesterday that made me laugh and hopefully will find its way to your funny space as well. Here goes...

I grew up with Steve Jobs, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope. Now there’s no jobs, no cash and no hope. Dear God, please keep Kevin Bacon safe!!!

Today, I would like you to get yourself something to write on. Don’t get too picky and allow ample space for writing. What I would like you to do now is to begin a list of all of the positive things that have come out of COVID-19. So many people are expressing appreciation for different aspects that have come forth during this time. So...what about you? You may think you will remember after all of this is done and you might, but let’s not take a chance!

One of the fun and awesome pieces that is coming forth from COVD-19, is creativity! Look at your current life and how many ways you have created something new to adjust. From drive-by birthdays to bed-time stories with grandkids on FaceTime, it's everywhere. Appreciate your creativity and ask, “what do I want to create?”

So...you may be feeling off today! Do you try to talk yourself out of feeling that way? Nooooooo? Notice how you are feeling and follow your instincts. Perhaps you actually need a break--or, perhaps you need to do something. Just a reminder...you are in control of this part!

APRIL 15, 2020

How are you all doing on your self care? I know...you are actually busy! However, finding the time to take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually will allow you to feel better. And isn’t that what we all want? I don’t mean to nag or be repetitive, but I will if I have to! Get to it!

April 14, 2020

During this very interesting time, I have noticed how creativity has shown up in areas I would not have thought possible. Today, I want you to think about something you might do that feels somewhat uncomfortable and out of the norm for you...because seriously guys, we are living currently out of the norm!

There's one thing that I believe we need to remember--there is a level of grief that is occurring for many people. If you are having that experience, notice it...without self judgement! Ride the waves of your feelings without pushing against them. Just notice...gently. Be kind to yourself and others.

Today, I would like to check in with you on an idea. Have any of you set intentions for how you would like this interim time to go? What items you do daily and perhaps what you would like to accomplish overall? If you have and yet find yourself in a position of not getting these done, you may be experiencing self-judgement and beating yourself because now you have this time and you still are not getting things done. Here's a thought: Today be very kind to yourself and let those self-deprecating thoughts go!

Hello again! We are beginning week two of The Bright Side and I am hoping these daily tid bits are bringing you some new ideas and strengthening some old ones. Today I want to touch on a concept that is incredibly important during this time and perhaps challenging as well. That concept is gratitude ... appreciation ... thankfulness ... whatever word works best for you. Find things throughout the day that you are thankful for and before you go to bed in the evening, write them down. Find things to be grateful for and your picture will begin to change!!

One of the trickiest pieces that I have found during this time is around eating. Are you eating more? Less? At our house, we seem to have an overabundance of food right now, which is great! However, there are moments when it appears we are going to go through it within days!

Be mindful of your eating...choose wisely...be thankful for each bite...enjoy each bite!

Today I want you to go get two file folders--I personally like the colored folders but any will do. On one write, THINGS I CANNOT CONTROL and on the other write, THINGS I CAN CONTROL. As we are moving through this time, there are obvious things that cannot be controlled by you...but there are countless things that can. You can actually write down the items as they come to mind and put them in the appropriate file. Or just have the files visible as a reminder. I learned this from one of my mentors, Gay Hendricks and it has been invaluable.

April Fools! I wish I could tell you all of this has been an April Fool’s prank, however, for the time being, what we have happening is our temporary normal. Today I want you to place your attention on four categories: Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual. Now, think about what actions in each of these categories will bring you ease and support. This is self-care and it is time to bring your self-care to a higher level. And...that’s no April Fools!

Today I want you to take things a step farther by identifying what you would like to have accomplished during this time. How many times have you caught yourself saying “I would do ___ if I had more time?” Obviously, these are actions at home, either work or personal. I am guessing you now have the time ...
