CDC answers questions about eviction moratorium orders
By Beth Wanless, Ohio REALTORS Director of Government Affairs
The recently enacted Center for Disease Control eviction moratorium has left both tenants and housing providers confused and seeking clarity. The order has prohibited evictions for non-payment of rent due to COVID-related financial hardship from Sept. 4, 2020 through the end of the year. Many questions have developed from this order such as can eviction filings take place at all, can a housing provider question the validity of a tenant’s ability to pay rent, and is there any federal rent relief available to tenants to name a few.
