Coaching Corner: Full disclosure!

Coaching Corner: Full disclosure!

By Marilou Butcher Roth, Master Coach

Today, I am hoping that my chaos can be of service to all of you. As I type, I am up to my eyeballs with items to accomplish. In three days I have a full day presentation to prepare for. Also, we are refinancing our home and I need multiple documents (you all know how that is). I have out of town guests all week, and, I started physical therapy for an ongoing back problem. None of that even begins to cover the miscellaneous other items that seem to be multiplying!! So, can I just say that I am selfishly writing this particular blog post for myself.

Similar laments have been presented to me many times from my coaching clients, and as always we have a discussion about being present, slowing down, breaking things into bite size bits, and, of course, breathing.

Busy happens -- it occurs more frequently for some than others, each of us having a taste of it from time to time. How are you handling the stress that “busyness” generates? Are you noticing that your body is tightening up just thinking about those times? Ah...take a nice cleansing breath, originating in your pelvis and gently moving up to your chest. Now do it again. Feeling better?

Within the past few hours, I have had to prioritize in a huge way, eliminating anything that didn’t fall into my absolute category. That was the first step. Then I literally left my desk for an hour or so and had a delightful lunch with my sister. I also requested help (oh my!), which is definitely something I do not like to do!! Help came easily and was much appreciated!

As you can see, we all have this time crunch occur -- the big question is how do you want to handle it when it does? I hope my messy week is something you can find to be helpful when those times find their way into your otherwise calm world.

Thanks for listening!
