Coaching Corner: Structure that supports you

Coaching Corner: Structure that supports you

Structure might show up as implementing systems within your business and also within your personal life. For example, how do you organize activities that are more of a project than an ongoing task? I have found that keeping my projects separate from regular activities gets them done quicker and easier. Mondays and Fridays are the days that I work on projects for my businesses and Saturdays for my home projects. Having them in writing and broken down into manageable steps, as well as a time to do these, keeps that running tape of “too much to do” at a minimum.

Where do you find gaps within your life? What things do you want to have happen that are not? Here is another example of structure that may help...when youngest set of twins were preparing to head off to Ohio State, I realized how inconsistent our time was together, so I implemented “Butcher Boy Dinner Night” every Tuesday evening. That became sacred time for me. Some nights it would be all 5 of us and other times I might have 2 of my 4 sons. Here is the really cool part — currently on Monday nights, one of my sons come for dinner with his son and on Wednesday nights, another one comes with his daughter! They requested that we do this and the little people know they have their special night with Grammy. And although this is certainly not the only time I spend with them, it is structure that supports our mutual desire to spend quality time together.

So this week, think about where you might bring in some structure or implement some systems that support what you are wanting to create in your life. And, as always, enjoy the process!
