Coaching Corner: Becoming your own savings account

Coaching Corner: Becoming your own savings account

Exactly...come on now is right! We do this backwards — we tend to first take care of our clients, then with our leftover time, our family and if we can possibly find an extra bit of time, we might do something for ourselves.

We need to turn that train around, and fast! I would like you to think of yourself as your own savings account. When you do not continuously make deposits into the “you” savings account, you will have nothing to give out. And yet, many of us continue to give out without making those oh so important deposits!

Stop right now and ask yourself what you do for yourself on a regular basis. It may be a sport that you enjoy participating in, or creating regular time to spend with your family and friends. Maybe you really enjoy reading but have not taken the time because you truly believe you don't have the time to spare, or there might be a long ignored hobby that has been put on the shelf.

The more we tell ourselves we don't have the time, the less time we will have. If you can open even slightly to the idea that you have an abundance of time, you will begin to see how your hours and your minutes begin to change. If I encounter a day where my time feels especially crunched, I take a few deep breaths and intend to create spaciousness. When I set the intention, I also feel spaciousness within my body, rather than the tense, tight feeling that I started with. Every time, things ease up and my experience with time shifts.

So, starting today, make a conscious commitment to open your own “you” savings account and find ways to make daily deposits. The more you put in, the more available you will be for whatever comes your way!
