Coaching Corner: Yes!!

In past posts, I have discussed the power of identifying and acting upon your yessand your nos. All of that still holds true. The importance of knowing what is a yesfor you and what is a no cannot be minimized. Today, lets look at the yesside of things.

Think of a situation where your immediate response, emotionally and perhaps even physically, is a no. Got it? Now, bring to mind another time where your immediate response was a no, and then you realized that fear was clouding your response. I know this has happened to me countless times, and now becoming much easier to realize sooner.

An opportunity may present itself that creates fear within you, hence generating a no.  Fear can show up in many ways; perhaps you may notice a sensation in your stomach, which may be a similar feeling to when you dread something like a root canal. Or, you may notice big resistance to an idea that is being presented to you, coming up with beautiful rationale as to why this is not a good idea. Or, you may shut the idea down completely. Fear is a tricky devil, sometimes showing up in ways that may fool you into ignoring what is happening underneath.

One of the thoughts that has helped me is to think about how I might feel if I actually did what was being presented to me. Would I feel accomplished, validated, and happy? And, how would I feel when I think about walking away from this idea? This has been my key to assisting me in uncovering when I have a yesthat is hidden away underneath my own fears and insecurities.

How does fear keep you from having an experience that is outside of your comfort zone? Can you allow yourself to become curious before you walk away? Learning more about yourself and how you handle your individual fears can lead you to a path of freedom! Are you open to exploring this path? I hope you say YES!!
