Ohio REALTORS® Thanks Andrew Huffman for His Leadership and Service
We are grateful for Andrew Huffman’s many contributions to Ohio REALTORS® and wish him the very best as he begins a new opportunity with Cap Square Advisors.
Andrew joined Ohio REALTORS® at the beginning of 2023 as Director of Government Affairs and quickly became an important part of our advocacy team, eventually being promoted to Vice President of Legislative Affairs.
During his time with Ohio REALTORS®, Andrew led our advocacy efforts at the Statehouse and played a major role in advancing policies that support housing, homeownership, and the real estate industry across Ohio.
Among those efforts were several major investments in housing, including the creation of a $100 million Residential Development Revolving Loan Fund to help rural communities fund infrastructure needed for new housing development, and a $25 million Residential Economic Development District Grant Program aimed at helping communities address housing shortages and encourage pro-housing policies.
Andrew also helped advocate for improvements to the Welcome Home Ohio Program, expanding eligibility to nonprofit developers and strengthening the program’s ability to build and rehabilitate homes for moderate- and low-income Ohioans.
Another major accomplishment was the creation of the Ohio Homebuyer Plus Program, which gives Ohioans a new way to save for the purchase or construction of a home while receiving tax and interest benefits.
Andrew played an important role in advancing House Bill 466, which established a statewide requirement for licensed real estate professionals to enter into written agency agreements with their clients in residential transactions. Passed in response to changes stemming from the NAR settlement, the legislation created a consistent standard for licensees across Ohio and brought greater clarity to the agency relationship.
Andrew also helped lead our work on landmark legislation regulating real estate wholesaling in Ohio to provide greater transparency for homeowners by requiring wholesalers to provide important disclosures before entering into a contract.
Andrew came to Ohio REALTORS® with nearly 13 years of lobbying experience and brought that knowledge and experience to our Government Affairs team every day. Over the past several years, he has been a great colleague and leader for Ohio REALTORS®.
We are incredibly appreciative of everything Andrew has done for our members and the real estate industry during his time here. We wish him all the best as he begins this next chapter with Cap Square Advisors, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role.
