Coaching Corner: Making your own luck!

Coaching Corner: Making your own luck!

Here is what I learned -- the actual phobia of being afraid on Friday the 13th is called “friggatriskaidekaphobia!” This word, according to the International Business Times comes from Frigga, the name of the Norse goddess for whom Friday is named and triskaidekaphobia, or fear of the number thirteen. I prefer “supercalifragilisticexpealidoscious” myself -- it just sounds better, doesn't it?

Some of the other interesting tidbits I learned in this article were that there has been a very old myth that if 13 people dine together, one will die within a year. There are countless myths and legends about why Friday the 13th is a day to be feared. One thing you definitely want to watch out for today is getting your hair cut -- apparently that is one of the top myths, indicating that if you do someone in your family will die. Seriously, who thinks this stuff up?

So, do you have old beliefs that this is a “bad luck” day? Perhaps so, or perhaps you foster other beliefs that generate bad or unlucky days. These are all beliefs and a belief is just something that is continually thought or talked about. That being said, what would you like a new belief to be? It's up to you.

Let's take the idea of Friday the 13th being unlucky and use it as a springboard to really thinking about what you do want, not just for today, but in your life! You are in charge of your own day, so make it a great one! Oh, but don't walk under any ladders!! :)
