Coaching Corner: Are you Engaged, Ignited and Amplified?

If you attended the Ohio Association of REALTORS Annual Convention in Cleveland, I would imagine you are answering yes to that question. What a great time! From the classes to the social events, the days were packed-full of learning and fun! Was it a commitment of time and money -- of course it was. Was it worth it? Absolutely! OAR's leadership team, Convention Committee and staff spent countless hours to bring an event to us that supports our business in amazing ways.
Tom Ferry was the main speaker at the General Session, bringing rapid fire ideas that if implemented, would indeed ignite and amplify your success. He spoke about the psychology of real estate and what stops our business from growing. He referred to these following items as “growth killers:†(1.) The addiction to the OPINIONS of others, (2.) The addiction to the PAST (my story) and (3.) The addiction to WORRY. Aha! He is talking my language!
How often to we allow what others think to influence our decisions and actions (or lack of)? It is vital that we align ourselves with our own desires and direction! When we can be solid with a direction that is based upon our individual values and needs, it becomes much easier to attain. When we operate from a place of trying to do what others think we should, we often find our road to success much more difficult than necessary.
I love that he mentioned the stories that we all have. When we bring our past story with us into the here and now, we are missing the beauty of creating the present that we each deserve. Wherever you came from, or whatever situations in the past you deem to be less than desirable, remember -- they are in the PAST! You are no longer living in that time. If you find this to be your block to success, take the time and get whatever help you need to move from your old story to creating the story you were born to live!!
Worry -- oh this is a good one. Here is what I want you to know about worry - IT DOESN'T HELP MAKE ANY SITUATION BETTER! When we worry about what might happen, we set up a mindset that is less than productive. Basically, what we focus on gets bigger! So if you find yourself in a worry situation, my suggestion would be to distract yourself as best you can.
Take the theme from this great Convention and find ways to "Engage, Ignite and Amplify" your business and your life and you might find it will become your theme!
