Ohio REALTORS awarded its 2017 "Young Professionals Network of the Year Award" to the Dayton Area Board of REALTORS.

The presentation was made at the Ohio REALTORS Board of Directors meeting, a highlight of the 107th Annual Convention & EXPO, Sept. 24-27, in Cincinnati.

The Young Professionals Network (YPN) in Dayton has made a concerted effort to reinvent itself and add structure and continuity to their efforts. Earlier this year it launched the Dayton Board's YPN Council, consisting of 15 REALTORS and two affiliates, which meets monthly for planning and logistics.

The Council also created a solid marketing network that has boosted participation at events, as well as an rise in sponsorship. Area brokers are increasingly seeing the value in YPN for all their agents.

The formation of the YPN Council has proven to show Dayton's Board of Directors that the YPN members are serious and ready to add value to the organization. In fact, the Board allocated a budget for YPN events because they saw the value in them for the members. The Council has made an effort to have a minimum of one YPN member serving on each Association committee, ensuring the group has a voice on each event and operation.

The Council's top event this year was called March Madness, a day of food and fun for the first round of NCAA basketball games that were displayed on four projectors at the Board office. Last year the Board saw nearly 300 REALTORS come by throughout the day for networking, food and prizes. As a result of the inaugural event, this year the YPN's found sponsors for every aspect of the event. The Dayton YPN's anticipate that the event will become a keystone for the Network.

Additionally, there was a charitable component to the event where money was raised for St. Vincent De Paul, a group that provides furniture for families in need. This has proved a great way for REALTORS to be involved in not only homeownership, but helping those individuals make a home with furniture they need.

The Ohio REALTORS, with more than 31,000 members, is the largest professional trade association in Ohio.
