Bonnie Boyd honored with profession's 'Lifetime Achievement' award

REALTOR Bonnie Boyd of Concord Township was honored as the 2017 recipient of the Ohio REALTORS Vincent T. Aveni Lifetime Achievement Award.

The presentation of the award was made at the Association's Board of Directors meeting during the Ohio REALTORS 107th Annual Convention & EXPO, Sept. 24-27, in Cincinnati. Boyd is associated with Howard Hanna in Mentor.

The Vincent T. Aveni Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes past presidents of Ohio REALTORS that continue to provide exemplary service to the organization. Aveni served as president of the Association in 1980 and the award was created in his memory following his passing in 2006.

Boyd, who served as Ohio REALTORS President in 2003, remains actively involved in the organization, serving as a member and chair of numerous organizational committees at the local, state and national level.

Boyd, who joined Ohio REALTORS in 1973, has served the organization as a Director since 1999. Additionally, she has chaired and served as a member of a variety of committees, including: Executive, Appraisal, Auction, Commercial Industrial, Communications, Convention, Equal Opportunity Diversity, Enlarged Legislative, Finance, Issues Mobilization, Legislative Steering, Strategic Planning, Ohio RPAC Trustees, RPAC Fundraising, Professional Development, and Scholarship, among others. She also served on a number of special task forces, including: School Funding, Communications Audit, Housing Affordability, and MLS Regionalization, among others.

Boyd was named REALTOR of the Year by Ohio REALTORS and the Lake & Geauga Area Association of REALTORS in 2006.

Nationally, Boyd was been a National Association of REALTORS (NAR) director (2001-2004) and served and chaired a number of committees, working groups and task forces, including: Public Policy Coordinating, RPAC Participation, RPAC Fundraising, Professional Standards, Leadership Academy Advisory, Federal Housing Policy, Housing Needs, and Smart Growth Program Advisory, among others.

A strong supporter of RPAC, she is recognized by NAR as a Golden R Major Investor contributor and as a charter member of the REALTOR Party President's Circle. She was installed as a member of the NAR RPAC Hall of Fame in 2008. In 2011, Boyd was awarded the Ohio REALTORS Phillip R. Barnes RPAC Achievement Award.

Civically, Boyd is active in Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Lake County, Howard Hanna Children's Free Health Care, Lake County Fair Housing Resource Board, Mentor Rotary Club, Willoughby Fine Arts Association, and the Trinity Church in Mentor. She is active in Lake County and Concord Township politics and currently serves as NAR Federal Political Coordinator for Rep. Dave Joyce.

Boyd holds the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Accredited Buyer Representative Manager (ABRM), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and Graduate, REALTOR Institute (GRI) professional designations offered by the NAR. She was the founder and president of The Ohio FIABCI Chapter (International Real Estate Federation) 1984-1990, President of the Lake County Women's Council of REALTORS (WCR) Chapter 1989, Ohio WCR Member of the Year 1991, Ohio CRB President 1999, and Ohio CRS President 1992.

"Bonnie is a most deserving honoree of this prestigious award," said Ohio REALTORS President Pete Kopf. "Throughout her career, Bonnie has provided unparalleled leadership and vision to the advancement of Ohio's real estate profession, as well as finding time to improve her community."

Past recipients of the Vincent T. Aveni Lifetime Achievement Award are: Vincent Aveni (2007 posthumously), Paul Everson (2008), Harley E. Rouda (2009), Owen Hall (2010), George Smith (2011), Steve Brown (2012), Barbara Lach (2013), Terry Hankner (2014), John Lynch (2015), and Stephen Casper (2016).

The Ohio REALTORS, with more than 31,000 members, is the largest professional trade association in Ohio.
