Ohio's Home Sales start strong in 2024, up for first time since 2022

According to Ohio REALTORS, home sales start strong in 2024, up for the first time since 2022. Additionally, sales price and dollar volume are up compared to January 2023.

 

Home sales in January 2024 reached 7,547, a 4.4% increase from the 7,229 home sales recorded during the month a year ago. The average sales price across Ohio in January reached $254,943, a 7.4% increase from the $237,467 mark posted in January 2023.

 

“In a promising start to 2024, home sales have surged, marking the first increase since 2022. This resurgence is further emphasized by a notable uptick in sales price and dollar volume compared to January 2023, signifying a robust and buoyant housing market,” says Ohio REALTORS President Ali Whitley. “An Ohio REALTOR serves as a professional partner, guiding buyers and sellers through the intricate process of homebuying and selling, to successfully achieve their housing goals.”

 

Around the state, 10 of the 15 markets tracked experienced an increase in average sale price for the month compared to January 2023.

 

Data provided to Ohio REALTORS by Multiple Listing Services includes residential closings for new and existing single-family homes and condominiums/co-ops.
